About
The National Environmental Conference for Doctoral Students (thereafter referred to as “NECDS”), is jointly hosted by Tsinghua University, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Asian University Alliance and State Key Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control, organized by School of Environment, Tsinghua University, and supported by Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering (Journal) and Hach Company. It has actively been serving as a high-level academic platform for students from environmental and related disciplines.
The annually held conference has so far witnessed 17 successful sessions. With the increasing popularity and influence, the “Environmental Conference for Doctoral Students” has been widely recognized by teachers and doctoral students from environmental field in China, and has gradually become the most influential platform of academic exchange for doctoral students who major in environmental sciences.
A total of 4000 participants and over 30 guests (including more than 10 academicians including Academician Qian Yi, Academician Hao Jiming, Academician Yang Zhifeng, Academician He Kebin, Academician Ni Jinren, Academician Yue Guojun, Academician Qu Jiuhui, Academician Zhu Lizhong, Academician Michael B. McElroy, Academician Wang Jinnan and etc.) participated in the previous 17 conferences. Participating students are from more than 130 doestic and foreign universits, covering over 30 related disciplines such as environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, and municipal engineering.
During the conference, various kinds of academic events were adopted, including keynote speeches, poster presentation, group sessions, seminars and academic salons. In order to improve its academic competence, the committee invited Academicians, leading scholars and renowned academic peers to share their insights in the keynote speeches and seminars, and encouraged doctoral students to host, discuss, and summarize their progress in parallel sessions, discussions and academic salons. This has cultivated a suitable atmosphere for high-level academic discussion and communication.
The 18th “Environmental Conference for Doctoral Students” will be held on May 10th-May 13rd, 2024, at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) and online. We welcome research papers of but not limited to the following fields: water pollution control and recycling, air pollution and control, solid waste pollution control and recycling, environmental economics and management and policy, environmental chemistry, environmental ecology and health, implementation pathways, mechanisms and policies for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, etc. The organizers welcome master’s and doctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows from China and abroad to submit their papers and participate in the conference. There will be no sub-venues specially reserved for international discussions.
In order to inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of the former 17 conferences, the 18th National Environmental Conference for Doctoral Students will continue to create a great atmosphere for academic exchanges for doctoral students and will continuously provide a platform for PhD students to exercise their abilities and enhance academic partnership.
